This 1/4" (.25) scale miniature is carved from a single piece of Tupelo and is inserted into a Butternut wood base which was carved to depict water. Carved in 2005, the loon has individual feathers accurately carved throughout, with finely wood burned texture on the head, the breast finely textured, and glass eyes inserted. The Loon is secured to the base with brass channel and pin and allowing its removal for shipping, cleaning, or storage.

The Loon is hand painted with acrylics and the base is stained/tinted with oil paint and sealed with polyurethane. There is felt on the bottom of the base which is has been signed and dated with with a wood burner. The Loon bears the signature and date below the waterline.
