Wildfowl Sculpture in Wood

Wildfowl Sculpture in wood is a fancy way of saying Bird Carving. It's been around for a long time. Decoy carving was what this type of art evolved from. Once just a utilitarian item, the Decoy has become a type of Fine Art , that collectors pay thousands for, depending upon the Artist. There are competitions that have created new types of carving as well as new categories. These competitions are held across the US and Canada every year.

The Competitions have created a new platform for this type of art, as well as for the Artists. This is due primarily to the competitions for, and publications about, Wildfowl Sculpture in Wood. There has been a greater awareness in the Fine Arts circles and amongst collectors, for this rather new collectible fine art. For years bird carving was considered a craft or a hobby. Thanks to the diligence of the artists and the collectors, and to those who produce the tools and materials, bird carving has found it's place in Fine Art. This is where there's a departure from the craft and hobby image of bird carving, to the fine art image of Wildfowl Sculpture.

Until now, the collectors in the US and Canada, have had a monopoly on this market. It is my hope that the entire world will now have an opportunity to get acquainted with this highly collectible original art, through the World Wide Web.

Whether you carve or collect, or you just have an interest, there is something here for you. Have fun and feel free to E-mail me your questions or comments!
