Decorative Lifesize Floating Decoys by Laurie J. McNeil
Laurie J.
McNeil has been carving award
winning decoys since 1985.
Each piece is carved from a single piece of tupelo gum. Laurie carves and
textures each
individual feather with a micro-grinder and woodburner. After every barb
and quill have been burned in, each piece is hand painted
with oil paint. In competition, these pieces must float perfectly in
water, so each decoy has been weighted with lead to adjust for floatation.
